Focusing on cloud computing business
Although Oracle started out with database software, the company has been actively expanding its cloud infrastructure business in recent years to compete with cloud computing giants such as Amazon, Microsoft, and Google. This business is also seen as the key to the company's future growth.
Benefiting from the explosion in the field of AI, Oracle's cloud computing business has performed well. Oracle specifically pointed out in its financial report that cloud revenue (Iaas plus SaaS) in the fourth quarter increased by 20% year-on-year to US$5.3 billion. Among them, revenue from cloud infrastructure (IaaS) during the period increased by 42% year-on-year to US$2 billion, exceeding expectations, reflecting the market's strong demand for Oracle's rental computing power and storage services.
In the process of catching up with cloud computing giants such as Microsoft and Amazon, Oracle's investment in the field of artificial intelligence has played a key role. It is understood that Oracle has invested billions of dollars to purchase hardware from chip giant Nvidia (NVDA.US) to support the expansion of its cloud computing business.
